Post relaxation of restrictions by the Kerala state government, salons and spas in Kochi have reopened, but are struggling to generate revenue as clients are cautious and avoiding beauty treatments at salons. Further, they are coping with high expenses of sanitizing equipment, low footfall and the burden of pending rents. Adding to their woes, customers have not been comfortable with wearing protective gear and getting temperature checks, even though it is for ensuring safety.
