The global pandemic hit the beauty industry hard as consumers couldn’t step-out to buy products owing to the lockdown. With people being locked inside their homes, the demand for cosmetics and professional beauty products witnessed a dip especially in the month of April and May. However, in June, the beauty segment observed a 6% jump in the growth, basis Nielsen report. L’Oréal India MD Amit Jain states that the industry will be fortunate to mark a single-digit growth in 2021. “The back half of the year should be positive, but the full year will not be positive as the previous quarter has weighed us down,” adds Jain.
