On 22nd July, 8 lakh salon professionals launched a campaign titled ‘Save Salon India’. Together with 102 salon associations including AIHBA, they drew attention to their plight through letters as well as social media.

Post the reopening of salons across India, repeated lockdowns fostered uncertainity resulting in low clientele in almost all salons, leading to huge losses. Due to the deepening financial crisis, thousands of young professionals have lost their jobs and 12 salon owners committed suicide. Their appeal to PM Narendra Modi, Chief Ministers, and Governors of all States and Union Territories of India is for immediate financial aid so as to save the sector.
